Please note this screen is to be undertaken on one reptile, and all tests are to be run on one single lab sample submission. The sample must comprise faecal material covering at least a 3 day period. This may include 3 consecutive days (if the reptile passes every day) or it may comprise faeces from 2 consecutive passings, as long as this spans at least 3 days and you are sure that there was not a missed passing. If you are unsure about what to send us in your particular circumstance, please let us know as our team are always very happy to help.
Our enhanced reptile parasite screen offers comprehensive information for effectively monitoring and managing your reptile’s health. This comprehensive reptile parasite test includes cryptosporidium. Alongside the worm count test, our enhanced version includes the following:
- Intestinal worms such as roundworms, hookworms, pinworms, and tapeworms.
- Ciliated protozoa such as Balantidium and Nyctotherus.
- Flagellated protozoa such as Giardia.
- Protozoans such as Coccidia, Cryptosporidium and Amoeba.
Order before 3pm Monday-Friday for free same day dispatch, which we send on a 24 hour service. If your screen is urgent and you would prefer to send a sample directly to the lab, please contact us and we will give you a Unique Lab Reference number and help you with what to do.
This test has a use by date of at least 4 weeks from point of order and it must be returned to the lab on or any time before the use by date. This test should not be run within 3 weeks of completing treatment.

If so, the species of parasite will be identified, so that targeted and appropriate treatment can be given. Our enhanced screen provides additional detail compared the standard worm count test. This enhanced screen provides accurate identification as well as quantitative results for each species of parasite where appropriate.
